SEA Co-Directors

Scott Ashworth has been a lifelong boater, from sea kayaks to larger vessels, including ownership of the 65-foot M/V Indigo, the primary vessel for SEA expeditionary programs. Scott has a strong committment to environmental stewardship and through SEA provides opportunities to people of all ages to experience and work to protect Puget Sound.

Chris Burt

Chris Burt, MEd, is a certificated instructor for the State of Washington. Chris brings 10 years of classroom instruction and four years of educational nonprofit administration experience to his work. He holds a master's degree in curriculum and instruction and a US Coast Guard Master's License. He currently serves as adjunct faculty for Lesley University and as an academic mentor for Western Governor's University.

Susie RichardsSusie Richards, MEd, is a Washington State Certified Teacher who has worked in the middle school setting for the past 15 years. She has served as a program director for a wide range of educational programs. She is a fellow in the Washington State Consortium for Contextual Teaching and Learning and currently serves as an academic mentor with Western Governor's University and instructs for Heritage Institute / Antioch University's extension programs. She holds a master's degree in education from Antioch University with a focus in community-based education.

Chris and Susie have worked in supporting and creating ongoing community- and school-based collaborative educational partnerships for more than 16 years, designing and implementing more than 100 marine expeditions. They are both experienced in grant writing and assiting in the development of dynamic community partnerships.

Terry and Sarah

SEA is grateful for the support of Coupeville Science teacher Terry Welch and Langley science teacher Sarah Diers, who are consulting with SEA in the development of our marine science programs and curriculum.

Florian Graner, PhD, serves as underwater diver for SEA on our program expeditions. He holds a doctorate in marine biology and works full-time as a freelance marine cinematographer. His films have been shown in many countries, and his photographs have been published in various diving magazines, books and field guides. Nancy Snow

Nancy Snow, MS, of Langley serves as the SEA web manager. With a master's degree in instructional development and a certificate in web design, Nancy has contributed to the development of many projects in both arenas.
